Membership - October
Membership development is critical to the future of our Blue Lodges. The goals of the "Pass It On" program are to get the Masons in California thinking about and discussing membership development in order that each Lodge may raise a minimum of five Master Masons per year. Depending on your individual lodge's past activities, five new members may or may not be a big goal. If each lodge in California, however, was able to yearly meet such a goal, the trend of our fraternity's growth would turn up.

Just think what five new Masons each year would do for your lodge. They would provide a range of personal resources that would strengthen the lodge, they would provide a succession of new officers , they would provide the continuance of financial support to continue the lodges operations, and they would replace members the lodge loses each year.

The best way your lodge can be successful in attracting and retaining members is to offer programs that have a wide appeal. The programs must include personal growth activities, family activities, and community service programs. Each of these programs must show, to the community as a whole, who we are and what our values are.

Begin your membership development program with a most important item, a budget, and then go from there to assigning enthusiastic committee members and making it all work. Every successful organization has a plan, and the "Pass It On" program is ready made for your use. Encourage your lodge to work the "Pass It On" plan and you will see the benefits of new members in your lodge. Above all, have fun and enjoy the benefits of new blood in your midst.

Wayne Dyer, the author says "Progress and growth are impossible if you always do things the way you always done things." I propose we all begin to shake things up and start to "Pass It On"
