| From the Personal Representative - January |
Get your calendars out and mark them for the Stated Meeting on January 4, 2010. That is a special night for a couple of reasons. First of all, our Officers Elect will be installed in their respective offices that evening. Don't forget, this is also the first anniversary of our meeting at the El Bekal Shrine Center in Anaheim. It has been a real pleasure to work with our Brother Masons at the Shrine. I think our relationship will be good for the Shrine and for the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. What are your plans for 2010? Beyond the usual items, have you considered your involvement in Freemasonry? While I can give you many thoughts on this subject, it is entirely up to you to define what your "role" as a Mason will be from this point forward. Brother Gary Whitlock 32°, Commander of Kadosh has given us many topics to ponder this year. His personal journey is what defines him as a Mason. I know that he has made many new friends this year as he has challenged himself to explore what Freemasonry means to him. One thing you might consider is the Grand Master's "Coming Home" program. Although February is the month in which he urges us to visit our Lodges, it applies year round. Give it a try. If you haven't been to your Blue Lodge in a while, you might see something that reignites that spark that first caused you to knock at the door and to kneel at the altar. I look forward to seeing you in 2010 as we all seek further light in Freemasonry. I extend my thanks to Brother Irv Womack, 32° Knight Commander of the Court of Honour, for his dedication to the Rite this last year. As many of you know, his health became an issue early in his year as our Venerable Master. The way he handled himself during this trying time is a tribute to the best qualities of Freemasonry. His is truly and "example worthy of all imitation". This tribute extends to his loving wife Darlene who has supported him all along the way. My Brothers, Sisters and Friends, we are indeed fortunate to have them as part of our Masonic family. Get involved, my Brother, like this Brother has, and you too can make a difference!
